THE ASSUMPTION (August 15, 2012)

According to the English version of Wikipedia, today’s feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven, informally known as the Assumption, is a public holiday in many a country, including Austria, Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, France, Germany (Saarland and Bavaria only), Greece, Lebanon, Lithuania, Italy, Malta, Mauritius, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Senegal, Slovenia, and Spain. Sadly, Croatia is not included in this awesome list. This Wikipedia page was last modified this very morning, but surely not by a Croat. When will someone add this country to the list, though? It is high time, I would say. At least in this blessed country, Croatia is deemed to be one of the most Catholic among countries. The assumption is that it will take a while for the Croats to master English. Alas!
