ROSSATO (April 6, 2012)

Pero Učkar brought me some wine from Italy. To my delight, this he does from time to time. He works in Monfalcone close to Trieste, and he knows the wines from Venezia Giulia quite well. Knowing that I am partial to Cabernet Franc, he got me a five-liter box with a spout. It cost ten euros only. At two euros a liter, only wine in bulk can be gotten in Croatia. More often than not, its quality is iffy, as well. Made by Adriano and Giulio Rossato from Cervignano del Friuli, the wine Pero brought is delicious. Full-bodied and aromatic, it is a joy to imbibe. After a single glass, I already wonder what will I do when I go through the box. Pestering Pero for more of the same would not do while driving to Friuli is out of the question. Perhaps moving there would do the trick?
