REBIRTH (September 20, 2012)

Heating oil has arrived this morning. Two days late, but it has arrived at last. And I feel not only relieved, but kind of exalted, as well. It is amazing what happens to me when I see the cistern climbing up Gradiziol toward the ramp, which I have to open with my key. I am suddenly transformed. The anxiety and anger vanish. Now I feel grateful to the driver. I dash hither and thither to help him get through all the tight spots, of which there are many in the medieval hilltown. Once the cistern is close to my house on Borgo, I start feeling outright fortunate. Nay, blessed. And I feel no less than accomplished when the tank is finally full. Ah, what a joy! I can almost hear angels singing softly all around me. Having paid the driver, as well as tipped him lavishly, I feel reborn. The transformation is always the same, but I forget it by the next time I have to order heating oil once again. By then, anxiety and anger are back in full force. Which is why I am amazed by my rebirth ever anew.
