OUR REUNIONS (March 7, 2012)

The winter, or whatever this season should be called nowadays, is on its hind legs. Even though it is still rather chilly, almost every day is blessed with bright sunshine. The spring is in the air, and Motovun keeps popping up in my mind ever more often. In at most a month I will move back to the hilltown, where I will spend a good part of the tourist season. It is about to start, too. Easter is rather late this year, as it falls on April 8, and thus it would not be surprising if the tourists started coming way before the holiday that usually opens the season. One way or another, it is time to start thinking about my next big move. The end of March? The beginning of April? Separation from my beloved is painful long before it takes place, but it brings its own pleasures. Our reunions are the best of our summers, no doubt. And so I choose to celebrate them in advance. The first one is likely to fall around my birthday in mid-April, by which time the Mirna valley will be as green as the Garden of Eden once again.
