ON COLLECTIVE HUMAN INTELLIGENCE (May 29, 2012)
Humans are endowed with a collective intelligence that must be separated from the intelligence of each individual human being. Collectively, humans understand much more than they understand as individuals. The best way to understand their collective intelligence is through stories humans tell each other, and especially the stories that are in high demand at any one time. Stories are embedded in novels, operas, theater pieces, movies, and the like. Now, the key task for the students of collective human intelligence is to bring together the stories in high demand and present them as a coherent story. In uncertain times, this is the best way to predict the future. As a species, humans can foresee what is in store much better than any individual human being ever could. This is the very reason they are endowed with collective intelligence in the first place. They can only gain by it. And this is all that students of collective human intelligence need to understand beforehand.
