Thus the first two lines in a big sign on a T-shirt worn by a young man I just walked past in the center of Zagreb. But the third line is the clincher: “No problem!” That is the message, too. In short, why study? Who needs a job, anyway? There are many other ways to survive in this world nowadays. To wit, the welfare state is still around and kicking. And young people are becoming ever more savvy about the ways to milk it till it runs dry. Alleluia!
