LUCKY BEES (May 25, 2012)
Now that the weather is getting a bit warmer, I occasionally open the livingroom doors giving onto the terrace to warm up the house. This is what I have done earlier this morning. But bees come in through the two doors and then try to get out through the window next to my dining table. This window I keep closed because the wind sometimes scatters the papers strewn around the table. They cannot figure out which way they have come into the livingroom, and thus they keep banging into the window until I get up from the table and open it for them. “Stupid bees,” I complain each and every time I see them scurry away. Of course, there were no houses when they came along. Even more important, there were no glass windows back then. “Not to worry, though,” I mumble to myself as I return to my chair. “There’ll be neither houses nor glass windows to confuse you in a short while!” Lucky bees, as it were.
