ICARUS (May 30, 2012)

The paragliding launch just under the lower square in Motovun is getting busier and busier. It was quite windy today, and an Austrian group of paragliders showed up around noon. I saw “Icarus” written on the T-shirt of the man who appeared to be their leader. And I saw twelve of them launching one after another. One of them ended up in the woods under the ramp, but this caused only a small delay. A few of the paragliders were pretty good both on takeoff and in the air, most were so-so, but a few were not good at all. Actually, one of them struggled around buildings time and time again. I wonder how long will it take for an unfortunate one to be suspended from the communal palace or the tower. This is bound to happen, too. It is only a question of time, as that T-shirt I saw today spelled out in no uncertain terms.
