According to the leading Croatian newspapers today, the war of independence has finally been won. Hooray! Two Croatian generals have been released from the international jail in The Hague. Not guilty of whatever they have been charged with. Alleluia! Be that as it may, I am glad the war of independence is history at last. I would be glad to celebrate this day for years on end just to be sure that the ordeal is finally behind us. And done with. For crying out loud, the war of independence started twenty-one years ago. Almost a generation ago, that is. One of the longest wars in the history of mankind, it deserves our unbridled jubilation. Croatia is independent at long last. Today. Long live the intrepid generals! And long live The Hague!
