HER BREATH (November 1, 2012)

I was awoken by a loud cracking sound and by the shaking of the floor under me. It felt as though the house was coming down. It was thunder, though. Lightning must have struck very close to the house. I immediately reached for my beloved, but then I remembered that she was not with me. I turned on the lamp next to my bed and dashed to the study to turn off the computer and the Internet router. The computer was already turned off by the jolt. When I returned to the bedroom, I checked the time. It was half past six. Thundering continued, but it was ever more distant. I opened the window and shutters ajar. It was murky. Rain was coming down in buckets. Motovun was in the middle of a dense cloud. I closed the shutters and window, returned to bed, turned off the lamp, and wrapped myself in my quilt. Thundering moved away quite rapidly. This time I got lucky, but Mother Nature is not kidding any longer. I could feel her breath this morning.
