DYING TO PAINT (September 8, 2012)
I am dying to paint another board, but I am holding myself down with all my might. I know exactly what to put on both of its sides, but there are only three plain boards left in the attic. I could get more boards, but that is out of the question at this point. The project is finished in my mind. The only remaining question is how to finish it with flair. As well as how to stretch it as long as possible. I am only sixty-six, for crying out loud. And I have put it in my mind that I should be at least seventy when I put the last touch on the series of more than three-hundred boards painted since 1990. To make things worse, I already know exactly what will go on one side of the very last board. To wit, I have only three out of six sides unpainted in my mind at this point in time. Only three. I shudder. How will I manage the pressure next year? Or the year after next? The age of seventy strikes me as well beyond my reach. Only in terms of painting, of course. Anyhow, I am still dying to paint another board…
