DR. RUDOLF JAKHEL (December 4, 2012)

I was surprised by a search phrase recently used on my Residua website according to the Google Analytics listing this morning: “dr. Rudolf Jakhel.” In the mid-Seventies, he was my first wife’s lover in Ljubljana. When I discovered their affair, we split up for a couple of years. He and I worked in the same institute at the time. He was known to all simply as Rudi, but he always preferred his full name. Having gotten his doctorate at the University of Aachen in Germany, he was rather jealous of it, too. His title meant a great deal to him, which is why I am quite sure that it was he who had searched my site rather than my ex-wife. I do not remember how she felt about the two letters in front of his name, but I would doubt that she was spellbound. Something else must have attracted her to him. Anyhow, she got her own doctorate from Harvard in the Eighties. As for me, I used my doctoral title rarely, but mainly with Slavs and Germans. They just love titles.
