I just googled my name and the name of the Federal Reserve chairmen listed one after another. I was looking for my musings about Ben Bernanke, but I came up with a connection that would never have crossed my mind. Namely, we are listed one after another as authors who have contributed to The Quarterly Journal of Economics, Volume 99, 1984. The listing is alphabetical by family name, and so he comes up ahead of me even though his paper was published shortly after mine. He wrote something about the expenditure on automobiles, and I wrote something on technology and trade. By the way, the journal in question was one of the top three in the States at the time, and the exact order of the three was always up for grabs. Returning to Ben Bernanke and I, I must say that my discovery made me pretty uncomfortable. Nay, embarrassed. After all, both of us are members of the same dreadful profession.
