A BRUSH WITH THE COLD (February 1, 2012)

It is cold and windy in Zagreb, but it is also perfectly dry. As far as I am concerned, a shirt, a fleece, and a windbreaker are entirely sufficient for comfort. It is amazing to see what people wear these days, though. And especially young people. Well, especially young women. Many of them are dressed for the Arctic and/or Antarctic. Padded, hooded, buckled, they crawl about stooped. This pitiful winter is too much for them to bear. Which only goes to show that winters have gotten so mild the last decade or so that few young people can bear even a brush with the cold. Of course, the continental climate of the Croatian capital has never been all that pleasant in the winter. Until recently, that is. The young people are thus likely to dress ever more ridiculously in the years to come. Soon enough, they will not dare step out of their warm homes without heated space suits. Fashion will follow suit, no doubt.
