“MUST-HAVE JOB SKILLS IN 2013” (November 26, 2012)

Thus the title of The Wall Street Journal article of November 18 that has grabbed the attention of the greatest number of readers from Europe over more than a week. It is likely to keep that place for a while longer. The skills listed are threadbare: clear communication, personal branding, flexibility, and productivity improvement. Gosh. The article is noteworthy not for the usual claptrap, but for its success. Put simply, the European readers are scared shitless. The sub-continent is in the grips of untold recessions that spell depression. Will the job skills listed help anyone concerned? A stupid question, of course. But the listing of the most popular articles in the newspaper is still of interest. Collectively, the readers are worth paying attention to. Concerning the first among job skills in demand, their communication is as clear as clear can be: unemployment looms large. As for the productivity improvement, read on. Perhaps something or other will pop up by the end of the decade.
