YAMATO (July 30, 2011)
Yamato, the drummers of Japan, have a concert in the main Zagreb square tonight. It has just started, too. The event is amazing to behold. It is hard to judge the number of people who have come to the event, which started just after an amazing torrent, but I have never seen so many people in the square. It was packed. Sixty-thousand, perhaps. Or maybe even eighty-thousand. And they were all enthusiastic beyond belief. The only problem with the event is the drumming itself, though. Half as many seasoned Africans would make the crowd go wild, but they would never be able to attract so many people in Zagreb. Sadly, the Japanese just do not have what it takes. For all the histrionics, as well as the impeccable technique, they still sound like a car factory. No heart. No guts. And no real rhythm. Which is why my beloved and I have left the concert pretty early. After less than ten minutes in the square, the rest was perfectly predictable. Unbearably so, as well.
