WELCOME TO ZAGREB! (June 6, 2011)
Wherever I go, waiters and waitresses are delighted to see me. They wave at me. They grin. They ask me about life, and I ask them about things in turn. We go on and on like that until we part our ways happily. Even when off duty, they approach me to shake my hand with smiles on their faces. And I feel really welcome. Practically the only people I know in the Croatian capital, waiters and waitresses are dear to me. I feel close to them. More, I feel at home among them at long last. And I sincerely hope that this is how things will remain. Who needs anyone else but waiters and waitresses forever on their side? Attentive and devoted, they are at the hub of things. Welcome to Zagreb!
