My beloved recently got Charles Ferguson’s “Inside Job” (2010) for us to watch when we get a chance. We watched it this afternoon, and we both enjoyed it very much. It is a documentary worth watching a few times, no doubt. But it is not only about the economic crisis of 2008. Rather, it provides an excellent introduction to the coming, and potentially much more debilitating, economic crisis. Given that the American financial sector remains largely unregulated to the benefit of a precious few people at the top of the sector’s tangled hierarchy, it is sure to hit us within a few years. By the time this happens again, we will all know exactly who is behind the inside job: the American government. As someone quips in the documentary itself, and rightly so, it is the Wall Street government heart and soul.
