As of late, the summer starts rather early and abruptly in Motovun. The spring has shrunk. Many people have noticed this change in the weather. It is late May, but it feels like late July or early August. The change took place less than a week ago, but it is unmistakable by now. And one feels ever so slightly confused by this sudden shift. All sorts of daily habits need to be changed quite fast. One now needs different clothing, different bedding, and even different food. One cannot do much during most of the afternoon, when the heat can be unbearable. And one cannot sleep as easily at night because of the heat that has crept into the stone walls. Years ago, one had time to adjust to the summer, but it is different now. The summer is here. Period. The faster you realize this is the case, the better. And no complaints.
