RATHER LIKE PITY (February 9, 2011)
I am struggling with an appropriate attitude toward humans. Love is too much to ask for. Hate is over the top, too. An appropriate attitude is rather like pity.
Addendum I (September 17, 2016)
For my sins, I am having trouble even with pity. When it comes to humans, the best I can come up with is something like oblivion. For the time being, pity is reserved only for children. To be more precise, it is reserved for infants and toddlers only. Older children leave me cold most of the time, and I often struggle when it comes to teens. As a matter of fact, they rile me up more often than not. Returning to oblivion, now I practice it whenever I wish, and for as long as I wish. When I am surrounded by humans, I often abandon all thought. Liberation, as I call it. And I relish it without any qualms as of late. Pity is for the birds, anyway.
Addendum II (February 9, 2017)
The first addendum is quite to my liking. Indeed, pity is reserved for infants and toddlers only. There is a point in the development in children when they stop being animals and become humans for true. By and large, this happens before they reach their third year. Out of the blue, you can see cunning in those little eyes. You can see subterfuge, too. This is the point when my pity evaporates as if by magic. Behold, another human ready to join the crowd! To put it the other way around, pity is reserved for the animal. And this includes the animal in us. Thus I can feel a touch of pity for all humans capable of sustaining and bolstering the animal in them. For better or worse, such humans are few and far between. Enough said, though. Pity is for the birds, to be sure
