PAZIN HAS A CHANCE (October 24, 2011)
After so many months of procrastination with my Slovene pension, I went to Pazin this morning. To my amazement, everything went smoothly. I found the right office surprisingly quickly. And the woman I talked to was more than helpful. It took me about an hour to acquire the right form, fill it out, copy the documents that had to be attached, and submit everything to the same woman. She even checked the form and fixed several of my boo-boos for me. The only weird bit is the very procedure of applying for the Slovene pension. Namely, I had to apply for Croatian pension, instead. The Slovene papers were appended to the application, though. They show that I have worked in Slovenia and that Slovene authorities agree with me on this score. My application will be rejected, for I have never worked in Croatia, but it will be sent to Slovenia afterwards. The procedure is ludicrous, but that is how things have been arranged between the two countries. Apparently, there is nothing else I need to do. The Slovene authorities will get in touch with me in due time. Having accomplished all this in one single morning, I feel almost victorious. Pazin has a chance, after all. It has climbed a couple of notches from its dismal place in my mind.
