NOW THAT WE ARE BROTHERS AND FRIENDS (January 18, 2011)
Now that the group exhibition at London’s Calvert 22 Gallery is into its second month, Britain has shifted into the second place after Croatia by the number of visits to my Residua website. One of the eleven artists on show, I am attracting some attention. On a monthly basis, currently there are more than thirty British cities and towns on the record from no more than five in the past. If Google Analytics is to be trusted, London has shifted into the third place after Pula and Zagreb. From about thirty visits per month in the past, now there are some eighty visits coming from the British capital. On a daily basis, occasionally there are as many as ten visits from London. Most impressive, no doubt. Except that the bounce rate for London has climbed up to seventy-five percent. That is, three quarters of all visitors from the British capital do not venture beyond the fabulous motto on the first website page. Now that we are brothers and friends, my ass.
Addendum I (January 26, 2011)
The number of visits to my website coming from London keeps growing at a surprising rate. In a bit more than a week, the number of visits per month has risen from eighty to one-hundred and fifty. And the bounce rate has risen to ninety percent. But Bristol beats London in this regard. And how. Now I have twenty visits per month coming from Bristol, as well as a bounce rate of exactly one-hundred percent. That surely is a statistic to be reckoned with. Eat your heart out, London!
Addendum II (February 1, 2011)
London is now the first among cities on my Google Analytics pages. Wow! At more than two-hundred visits per month, it has overtaken Pula, the largest city in Istria, which boasts of about fifty-thousand people. Good going London! As the bounce rate is steady at ninety percent, this means that my old friends from London account for the ten percent of proper visits to my website. Chances are they do read a few words from time to time. It is the art world that keeps bouncing like crazy. Stuck, stuck, stuck…
Addendum III (February 15, 2011)
Amazingly, the United Kingdom has just overtaken Croatia in terms of monthly visits to my website. The former boasts of as many as three-hundred and fourteen visits whereas the latter of only three-hundred and eleven. And London comes first with three-hundred and ten visits per month, just one short of Croatia as a whole. Four other British cities come up with one visit each. Returning to London, the bounce rate is still at ninety percent. The art world is predictable, as ever. But enough of these statistics. No surprises from Google Analytics can be expected any longer. The exhibition at Calvert 22 Gallery will close in less than a week, and the number of visits from London will quickly dwindle to where they were a few months ago.
Addendum IV (March 20, 2011)
Ah, I cannot resist a few more words about London’s art world in Google Analytics’ terms. Just as I predicted more than a month ago, as soon as the show at Calvert 22 Gallery closed, which was a month ago exactly, the number of visitors to my website plummeted to where it had been for a long time: about a thirty a month. Or about one a day. The highest number of visits during the show was three-hundred and twenty per month. That is, a bit more than ten a day. But the bounce rate also plummeted from some ninety percent to about ten. And this is where it had been for a long time, as well. That is London’s art world most precisely defined. In fact, I cannot find a more succinct definition of it. Pure froth. Vapid to boot. Unadulterated sham. Naught squared. But with a bounce all its own.
