FIELDING FEEDBACK MESSAGES (November 24, 2011)
The last piece of writing that is currently listed under this year on my Residua website is a letter to The Economist about Al Jazeera Balkans. This has been so since November 12. Many of my friends are getting concerned. Has anything happened to me? Have I had enough of this world? Have I gotten sick? Now I am fielding feedback messages and advising friends to go to the last piece listed, open it, and then click the “next” button on the page. That way they can get through everything posted on the site since the last piece listed but invisible in the listing. I explain that the problem is technical in nature and that it is being fixed by the people in Calgary, Canada, who maintain my site. But I cannot say what is actually the problem. Or why it is taking so very long to be fixed. I close my responses by cursing modern technology with all my might. But now I know exactly what will happen when I will have had enough of this world. Or gotten sick. And so forth. For a long while, perhaps for years, the listing of pieces on my site will be stuck at some silly date. The date, as it were. But there will be no-one fielding feedback messages from my concerned friends.
