Thus a huge sign carried by a throng of about a thousand young people demonstrating in Zagreb two days ago. That was in the evening, when the newspapers for the next day were already in print, which is why the newspapers carry it only today. Brought together by Facebook on the Arab model, the young people have had enough of corruption and organized crime that have characterized Croatia since independence. Now that unemployment is about twenty percent, the new social order is in question. But there is no answer, it goes without saying. Socialism is dead. Dead and gone. The question is still as valid as ever, though. So far, there is no sign of any alternative. The so-called third way has been discredited many times over, and this is how things are most likely to stay indefinitely. Among the young, the only answer is anarchism, which explains why the sign carried by the demonstrators was black. Good luck to them, but anarchism is dead and gone, as well. We are entering a phase of confusion regarding social orders. That confusion is almost certain to last for many years, decades, and perhaps even centuries.
