BOGUS DEMOCRACY (December 4, 2011)
There are few joys at this stage of my life like not taking part in the elections. Croatian elections, too. If there is anything I loath, it is bogus democracy.
Addendum (December 5, 2011)
As long expected, the so-called Cock-a-doodle-do Coalition won the parliamentary elections quite handsomely. The name suggests a wake-up call. Something fresh and vigorous. But it is enough to take a peek at the faces of the coalition members to understand where Croatia is heading. The same old nowhere, that is. As the Croatian voters are learning ever since independence, that is how parliamentary democracy works, anyhow. The choices open to them are always heavily constricted by the lumbering political process that inhibits anything fresh and vigorous. To the credit of the voters, less than fifty percent participated in the hoopla this time around. Cock-a-doodle-do, indeed.
