“GO WRITE!” (February 6, 2011)

Thus my beloved once I started haranguing her with my views of socialism. “Socialism is not dead,” I insisted. “What is dead is socialism invented by Slavs,” I kept going. “Socialism invented by peasants,” I corrected myself. “But socialism as such is far from dead,” I returned to my main thesis. If only someone would take it from here. And soon. As soon as possible.

Addendum (February 15, 2017)

It might be true that socialism had met an abrupt and pitiful end because it came to fruition in a country populated by peasants of Slavic origin. Also, it might be true that it would have fared considerably better had it come to fruition in a country populated by industrial workers of Germanic origin, for instance. Nonetheless, socialism is dead and buried already. And its chances of revival are nil. At this stage of their evolution, humans are creatures of capitalism. I could write about socialism for the rest of my life, but it would still remain just a pipedream of a few intellectuals who still roam the earth. In my beloved’s defense, though, my writing cannot but give her a well-deserved respite. Whence her adroit advice, it goes without saying.
