THE RAMP (November 13, 2010)

I dreamt that a truck going up the cobblestone ramp leading to the archway that connects the lower and upper square in Motovun crashed through several stone columns linked by a heavy chain on the open side of the ramp. Tipped to one side, its wheels still spinning high in the air, the truck ended up suspended between the ramp and the loggia at the entrance of Borgo. The driver had hard time squeezing out of the squashed cabin. Judging by all the squealing and creaking of the twisted frame, the truck could crash any moment onto the cobblestone street below. If that happened, the loggia could also be damaged pretty badly. I was a bit concerned about the hapless driver, but much more about the ramp and the loggia. Putting everything back together would take years. When I woke up, I remembered that I had dreamt of a car crashing through the stone columns of the ramp only this summer. After two dreams of this sort so close together, I am getting really worried.
