On my walk around central Zagreb, I came across a traditional fair in the main square. All sorts of foods and drinks were on offer, but there was much more besides. Thus I came across all sorts of things made of wood. There were bowls and plates, canes, boxes, toys, and so on. Among other things, I saw a large basket filled with wooden balls of all sizes. Shaped from a single piece of wood and varnished, they struck me as beautiful. When I approached the basket, I saw that some of the balls were the size of my chi-gong balls made of stone and steel. And I bought two of them without much thought. On the rest of my walk, I twirled my wooden chi-gong balls on my way. It did not take me long to figure out that the exercise gave me tremendous pleasure. Who knows, perhaps the Chinese have a place for wood among all the materials that chi-gong balls are made from. And it would not surprise me if they were meant for leisurely walks around bustling cities.
