WELL INFORMED (November 17, 2014)
On my way to the post office, I met no-one this morning. The hilltown appeared totally deserted. When I came to the archway between the lower and upper square, I saw three men, one woman, and a huge camera in front of me. All of them dressed in black, they were on the other side of the archway. Standing next to each other, they all stared my way. Realizing how odd the scene must have appeared from my vantage point, the women cracked a smile. As I was climbing up the archway, I started making victorious motions with both hands raised high in the air. The film crew was not sure how to behave, but a couple of them smiled sheepishly. “How did you know I was coming?” I asked in English. “We are well informed,” chuckled the woman in English. Her accent could be German, I thought. Judging by their demeanor, all of them were either Austrian or German. Before I turned toward the post office, the four of them collected their camera and went down the archway. We parted without a word.
