As Goggle Analytics tells me, the most popular search phrase used when visiting my Residua website the last few months is “Tomica Pahović.” The present mayor of Motovun, of course. His actual first name is Tomislav, but Tomica is how his friends and enemies call him since childhood. Why all these searches, though, many of which entail quite a number of pages—that is, pieces of writing? Tomica’s political enemies, mainly from the Istrian Democratic Assembly, which he and his Independents had trounced in the municipal elections last year, assume that I am privy to many of his secrets, both political and otherwise. As well as that I am liable to bring them to light on my, as it were, blog. Regardless of the first assumption, the second one is stupid beyond belief. If I knew anything of any value to Tomica’s political enemies, I would never divulge it any way, let alone in my writings on the World Wide Web. Get the message, nincompoops?
