THROUGH MY BELOVED’S EYES (December 13, 2014)
The last few days, I have been looking at my house through my beloved’s eyes. I have been wiping floors, removing cobwebs from corners, and rearranging things from room to room. Also, I have been cleaning the fireplace and bringing in logs from the covered part of the terrace, where there is a huge pile of them. Much remains to be done, and especially in the bathroom upstairs, but I am doing my best to finish the job before my departure for Zagreb two days from now. So, why this rush? What are all these preparations about? My beloved and I will return to Motovun together on Christmas Eve, and I want her to find the house in the best of shapes. Soon after our arrival, the fireplace will get going, as well. Although there is a whole day before my departure, my beloved’s eyes help me along a great deal. My own eyes are far from a match when it comes to all the necessary preparations. Wait a minute, though. All the dead insects strewn about the kitchen floor must be removed without any delay. They have been accumulating there ever since my beloved’s last visit. There is not a minute to waste!
