THE SHRINE (February 14, 2014)
What else could I do for Valentine’s but build for my beloved a Lego world entire on one of the glass coffee tables in her apartment? Her initials and the last two digits of the year in which she was born dominate the colorful display. They can be found on top of a busty lady I built a while ago with Pussy Riot in mind, a prancing but docile dog that kind of reminds me of myself, an erect penis with monumental testicles, several tall columns, and an enormous, rickety heart that stands up as if by miracle. In fact, I am amazed that it has not collapsed already. Under the sharp light of a standing lamp next to the coffee table, the two letters and the two figures look pretty lively. They appear to pulsate, like neon lights. Having completed my gift, I return to it every few minutes to make a few last-minute adjustments. But I can hardly wait to see her face when she discovers this shrine to our love. The shrine. I am only sorry that I have waited till Valentine’s Day to build it for her. In retrospect, she deserves better.
