THE SHOW IN THE SKY (March 23, 2014)

I witnessed an unprecedented show in the sky above Motovun late this afternoon or early this evening. Lightning ricocheted between clouds for at least ten minutes without ever reaching for the earth. The rumbling and flashing were continuous. As well as frightening. It appeared that the show would go on and on, but it ended with a sudden shower of hailstones that lasted two or three minutes at most. Remarkably, many of the hailstones were the size of small marbles. And then it turned quiet. Dead quiet. The show in the sky was over. Quite a few people came out to witness it, but they were all speechless. Flabbergasted, they shook their heads without a word. What we witnessed was entirely new, and pretty impressive, too. We all thought that we knew nature’s repertoire by heart, but we were wrong. In fact, the repertoire is growing by the day, and it is getting ever more formidable. Nay, intimidating.
