THE FOURTH PLINTH (February 7, 2014)
Built in in the middle of the Nineteenth Century but left empty for lack of money, the fourth plinth in London’s Trafalgar Square attracts many artists. Every now and then, some of them get lucky with a temporary sculpture. Hans Haacke from Germany and David Shrigley from Britain are among the lucky ones at this point. Haacke has come up with a horse skeleton and Shrigley with a fist with its thumb raised. London’s mayor, Boris Johnson is reportedly delighted by both. Great stuff, no doubt. Overjoyed for the two artists, I could not but start thinking about my own work to be displayed on the fourth plinth. It took me a few seconds only to come up with a gargantuan penis. It would be a cast of my own magnificent member. And it would be fully erect, it goes without saying. Now I have to figure out how to rally some support for my work of art. The mayor of London is likely to find it original, I reckon.
