Once or twice a week, I get an invitation to join one of the popular social networks. I never respond, and thus I get a whole bunch of reminders for every single invitation. Having been pestered about Facebook for quite a while, last year I wrote a piece whose title declared in no uncertain terms that I was not on the most popular of social networks of this day and age (“Ranko Bon is Not on Facebook,” January 23, 2013). It is high time to declare in no uncertain terms that I am not on any social networks. Thus the title of this piece. To be a bit more precise, here are seven of the most popular social networks in existence today: Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest, Google Plus, Tumbler, and Instagram. To repeat, I am not on any of them, or any others. Moreover, I do not intend to join any social network in the future. To be as precise as possible, I will do everything in my power never to join any of them for the rest of my days. I hope this clears the matter once and for all. Alleluia!
