PUBLIC HAIR (October 27, 2014)

To my amazement, yesterday evening I found a boo-boo in my new book, which just appeared in print. “Going through the Motions in Doha” (November 27, 2012) appears twice, the first time out of its chronological order. I have no idea how this happened, for I went through the whole thing many times over. Sadly, it was too late to let my publisher in Belgrade know about it, for the book was bound already. When I told my beloved about my discomfiture, she laughed. Then she told me about another funny one she had noticed a while ago, but had forgotten to tell me about it. “Instead of ‘pubic hair’,” she said, “you wrote ‘public hair’.” I jumped for my laptop at once. As it turned out, the boo-boo appeared in “T” (January 7, 2014), which was about one of my many Lego toys made earlier this year. “Don’t change it,” my beloved almost panicked when she saw me fiddling with my text, “please don’t change it!” She just loved it the way it stood. Anyhow, there is no way of getting rid of all the boo-boos. There are zillions of them, and they pop up when least expected. Or appreciated, for that matter. My public hair, as it were.
