POWER OUTAGES GALORE (September 5, 2014)

If I am not complaining about the power supply in Istria, it does not mean that everything is hunky-dory. Far from it. It only means that power outages are so frequent that it does not make any sense to complain about them too often. All in all, the power supply on the peninsula is atrocious. It goes off many times a day. There were two outages this morning, for example. This means that the Internet service is regularly interrupted, as well. What surprises me most about all this is that no-one complains about it. Power outages have become perfectly normal in these parts. This is how it is, and how it has always been, so why complain about it? The only thing related to the power supply that is discussed by the media is top management of the electrical companies across Croatia. In public hands, they are given to corruption. The government is thus about to kick out the top management of the topmost electrical company in Croatia, which manages all the regional electrical companies. The manager of such a public company in Istria was kicked out only a week or so ago because it turned out that he had a fake engineering diploma. What these poor people do not understand is that corruption in top management circles translates into power outages galore. The whole system is rotten from top to bottom, and we all know it by direct experience. Corruption made visible by the naked eye!
