OPTIMUM MEDICAMENTUM QUIES EST (March 11, 2014)

Thus I to myself whenever Motovun crosses my mind, and it crosses it increasingly often the last few weeks. As though my life in Zagreb is so hectic that I need rest. And as a remedy, of all things. Ridiculous as this is, the view of the Mirna valley from my terrace comes to my mind’s eye increasingly often. As ever, it is accompanied by a deep breath. The chestnut trees at the hotel terrace come next. Another deep breath. A leisurely walk around the town wall completes the mental exercise. Deep breaths galore. The only thing that remains to be done is to decide on the exact day I will be leaving Zagreb. This is where my daydreaming about rest is suddenly interrupted, for it is no less than painful thinking about any sort of life without my beloved. Optimum medicamentum amor est, instead.
