ONLY A GOD (January 13, 2014)
If I am kind of tough on gods, who also make me rather angry at times, it is because I do not know any of them up close. As it were, personally. For the sake of the argument, at least, I am assuming that they are not a figment of my imagination. Be that as it may, I am rather lenient with those I know, and thus I can well imagine laughing with gods about all the silly mistakes they have made since the beginning of time. By now, there must be botched-up creations galore, I would guess without much fear of contradiction. And gods would not be gods if they were unable to laugh about their boo-boos on occasion. Sincerely, too. “Hey,” I can imagine the most forthright among them shrugging their shoulders at some point, “I’m only a god!” That would be quite endearing, no doubt. And all the other gods would chip in sooner or later with similar admissions. Teasing would start, and there would be much heartfelt laughter. If only I could be with gods when life on earth came up in merry conversation, though. The god responsible would have a tough time with the assembled peers, I am more than sure. “Remember,” I can already hear the poor god’s solemn plea, “I’m only a god, too!” Ah, the laughter would be such a pleasure not only to hear, but also to partake in!
