NOVEMBER IN JUNE (June 3, 2014)
It has been cold in Motovun. The temperature in the house has been hovering around nineteen degrees Celsius. It is not raining today, but it is quite cloudy. In addition, the wind is unpleasant. It is a joy to be outside only when the sun peeks through the clouds, which it does pretty rarely. Thus I am wearing my winter clothes. In the evening, my fleece is zipped all the way to the neck. Before I go to sleep, I must heat up the bedroom. In short, it is November in June. I am not complaining, though. The weather has been all too changeable as of late, but there is no rain today. And that is wonderful all by itself. Perhaps the only way to deal with climate change is to rejoice whenever the weather is not outright horrible. Alas, this is yet another little trick to learn, and as soon as possible.
Addendum (June 8, 2014)
Only a few days later, the weather turned. And now it is August in June. That is a pattern many have noticed in Motovun. Springs have disappeared. Also, falls turn into summers in just a few days. It is around thirty-five degrees Celsius right now. Winter clothing is unimaginable at present. For three days in a row, I am in sandals, shorts, and T-shirts. And I am doing my best to keep the house cool. The switch of seasons is simply incredible.
