LURKING MIRRORS (January 4, 2014)
There are days when humans positively horrify me. Their faces disgust me, and especially when they are animated in conversation. Their bodies make me shudder. Deformities of any kind are the most difficult for me to bear. Their clothing strikes me as ridiculous. Actually, pitiful. Wherever I look as I walk through a crowd, I recoil in horror. The only solace on such days is that I do not have a mirror with me. And I make sure not to look into mirrors lying in wait for me in so many shop windows. Indeed, lurking mirrors are my nemesis. For I know all too well that I, too, am a human. To my complete and total shame, of course.
