HARD TO BELIEVE! (August 15, 2014)

My beloved is on her way to Motovun, and I am readying the house for her. The morning is fresh, and all the windows and doors facing west are wide open. As I am spreading my beloved’s futon and wrapping it in a clean sheet, I am occasionally casting a glance through the bedroom window. There is many a cloud in the sky, but much of the Mirna valley is bathing in sunshine. After a lot of rain, everything is as green as green can be. Every shade of green can be found in the fields, vineyards, and forests stretching along the river. “Hard to believe,” I keep mumbling to myself and shaking my head, “hard to believe!” Indeed, the view right in front of my eyes is hard to believe. And it is a question of belief rather than knowledge, for knowledge is too harsh a notion. When it comes to a landscape of such breathtaking beauty, even belief is a notion a dash too dodgy.
