GOING DIRTY (January 14, 2014)

I am spending so much time washing myself that I am getting not only annoyed, but also angry with myself about my silly habits. I take a shower every day, but I take another one if I take a crap after the morning shower. I wash my hair every day, as well, but I use shampoo every second day. I wash my hands four or five times a day. I brush my teeth after every meal, no matter how slight. And I rinse my nose with sea salt diluted in water at least three and at most six times a day. How much soap! How much toothpaste! How much shampoo! How much salt! And how much precious water! Granted, personal hygiene is essential for health, but too much of it cannot but work the other way around. Parasites of all sorts must relish excessive cleanliness. How do I curtail my silly habits, though? How do I trick myself into going dirty? This is but a rhetorical question, of course. I cannot stand my own smell whenever I manage to make a few cuts in my daily washing routine. Come to think of it, this will turn out to be the toughest hurdle on the long road out of civilization for the blessed tenderfoot. Chances are that it cannot be crossed voluntarily, either.
