GIFTS OF NATURE (July 17, 2014)

When I came to my terrace yesterday morning, I noticed three large blotches on the ceramic tiles. They were whitish and rather thick. At first I thought it was seagull excrement, for seagulls often fly up and down the Mirna valley in search of garbage, but then I realized it must be cat vomit. And there are many street cats around. As I was thinking about the best way to remove the blotches, I noticed that ants had assembled around them already. They appeared quite interested in their finds. Indeed, there is hardly any trace of the blotches this morning. Three stains, most likely of fat, are in their place. The ants are gone, as well. Their job done, they are looking for other gifts of nature, of which there must be many on the terrace and around it.
