EAT LESS, WALK MORE (June 10, 2014)
Most of the tourists in Motovun at this time of the year are the elderly from Europe and America, and I cannot but notice some of their features. Overall, they are quite fat. Next, they have hard time walking. It is a combination of poor knees and feet. On top of that, quite a few of them suffer from problems with their lower backs. And the verdict is simple enough: the bulk of them eats too much and walks too little. As simple as that. But I can imagine what the good doctors in Europe and America have to say about their patients. Thousands of books have been written about the subject, but the remedy is nowhere in sight still, even though it boils down to a simple formula everyone can understand: eat less, walk more. A medical mystery, to be sure. And all you need to resolve it is to sit on the lower square in Motovun and watch the elderly tourists from both sides of the Atlantic waddle past your table. Easy-peasy, but still well beyond the medical science at its very peak.
