CULPA NOSTRA (November 3, 2014)

Deus exemplum bonum stultitiae hominis. Etiam hominis puerilitas exemplum bonum est. Semper excusationes quaerare. Succurrite, succurrite, non est culpa nostra!

My second haiku in Latin gives me much joy. And so does its simple message: all the troubles the human species faces are caused by the stupidity of the species itself. Looking for excuses will not do. The troubles have nothing to do with nationality, race, or religion. They have nothing to do with inequalities in wealth, either. Deep down, all the troubles come from human nature, as the hackneyed expression goes. They come straight from the genes, to put it in the language of this day and age. Most important, there is no way to get rid of the troubles except through evolution. And evolution takes millions upon millions of years to get anywhere. In the meanwhile, tough luck.
