AFGHANISTAN, CROATIA (February 5, 2014)

The first thought that crossed my mind when I read that wife- and child-beating was recently legalized in Afghanistan was that this offered a wonderful hint to the political right in Croatia. Having managed to prohibit same-sex marriages by constitutional change, they need new ideas. And Afghanistan is not that far right politically. With the exception of a minority in the Croatian capital and a few other cities, much of the population practices wife- and child-beating without any compunction. Legalization of these practices would be the first step. Another constitutional change would follow naturally. Follow the leader, good people!
