A JOKE OF A SUMMER (September 1, 2014)

A huge storm came across Istria last night. It thundered and thundered for hours. There has been so much rain that the Mirna is close to flooding this morning. The sky is so low and dark that it seems that it will never stop raining. The storm has brought much lower temperatures, as well. It is around eighteen degrees Celsius right now while it was around twenty-eight degrees the last few days. In short, the fall came pretty early this year. In fact, it feels like late October or early November rather than the first day of September. Tourists who are still around are a pitiful sight. They are bundled up in everything they have brought with them for the summer. Many of them are shivering. It is hard to guess how the next tourist season will look, but those who have ventured to the peninsula this season will surely think twice about coming back the next few years. The summer they were looking for ended up being a joke. Even July and August were dismal. A joke of a summer, and no kidding.
