“MARKETS GRIPPED BY POLITICAL FEARS” (August 8, 2014)

Thus The Wall Street Journal today. “US stock futures followed European markets lower, with news that the US has authorized airstrikes in Iraq compounding worries over an escalating trade war between Russia and the west,” elaborates the newspaper. I am no less than delighted by the bad news, which are shared today by all the financial newspapers of note. Not all investors are crazy, that is. While the conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza were gathering momentum, I could not believe my eyes whenever I checked the stockmarkets. They were buoyant. Are all investors crazy? There was a glitch after the downing of Malaysian Airlines flight 17, but not for long. In short, I hope political fears will stick for quite a while. Put differently, I hope investors will keep their sanity. Or we will have yet another crisis due to their craziness on top of all the other troubles the world currently faces. And those in Ukraine and Gaza are only the proverbial tips of icebergs.
