Thus I to myself when I opened the shutters on my bedroom window upon waking this morning. The view of the Mirna valley was so stunning that I just stood there and shook my head. And I kept repeating under my breath: “Impossible!” I could not believe where I lived. During my morning ablutions, I returned to the window several times. Shaking my head in disbelief, I repeated the same word over and over again. The astonishment was with me all the way through. The day is wonderful, indeed. There are only a few fluffy clouds in the sky. The sun shines bright. After so many days of miserable weather, this is an amazing day. All the forecasts suggest that this will be but a brief respite, though. Many more drizzly days are yet to come. But the view of the Mirna valley is simply beyond words. After so many years in Motovun, I cannot believe that I actually live here. “Impossible!”
